Ok, here’s my SETUP for YouTube streaming - I hope this helps others! Check out their Game Player Kids channel.

If you can’t see the screenshot, see it larger here.
We used the following:
-
iMac 5K with Yosemite 32GB Ram
-
BlackMagic UltraStudio MiniRecorder connected to an AppleTV 2 for Airplay of an iPad
-
Lightning Cable direct to USB3 and Quicktime - for new recording and selecting an iOS device
-
Firewire to Thunderbolt converter to connect an old Canon HV20
-
– Zoom H6 plugged into Canon HV20
-
- — Audio-Technica AT897 Boom Mic for the boys
-
- — Sennheiser EW 112P G3 Lav for me
-
- 3 F&V ring lights - 2 for the green screen, 1 on the Canon HV20
I was pleasantly surprised how everything pretty much worked (except for the audio layer).
I plan on buying the Magewell HDMI to USB3 Converter so I don’t have to rely on airplay which reduces any errors with WiFi. But that means I need a Lightning to HDMI adaptor.
- This will also come in handy if I want to record them playing a console. But if I go that route, I’ll need this HDMI splitter so that they can also watch a real screen.
