Hello, I’m testing the latest beta 2.0b6 (19603). I’m experiencing regular crashes (beachball appears), mostly happing when I rearrange layers.
MBP mid 2014, OSX 10.10.5
@evero thanks for reporting back. We thought we fixed it but can reproduce this here. We’ll try to fix in the next beta.
@Bastian great! Hope you can push the next beta soon, not possible to do any stresstesting on the current
The MimoLive update was doing better at first, but I’m still experiencing hanging and crashing as well. Glad you were able to reproduce it @Bastian! Looking forward to testing the next beta - hopefully on a Hangout!
Release 2.0b6 seems much more stable - no crashes yet! @Bastian does the beta have the ability to play a pre-recorded video yet? What layer would I use for that if it’s possible? What video formats will work (I’d like to use MP4).
@fromtheabbey Video PLayback doesn’t work yet. We are working on this at the moment.
I am running 2.0b7 and the improvements are incredible! Im curious where to report a bug though: ‘Save as Template’ is greyed out. If I try to save the app crashes 95% of the time.
update it…
I received a message today when I launched Mimo that my beta license had expired. I thought the beta license was good through 2/6. Do I have to renew my beta status?
Please click mimoLive (in the menubar) and go to “licenses”, Please check if only one key is installed and if it actually expires today. If so, please re-signup. You will receive a new key right away. if the key is still marked as valid, you might be running an old version of mimoLive. If so, please go to http://www.boinx.com/mimolive/beta and download the latest version at the botto
m of the page.
Thanks @Bastian. I re-installed 2.0b9 and re-installed the original license and it worked.
@Bastian is it still true with 2.0b9 that we can’t use a USB camera and a USB mic? MimoLive finds both of them, but I’m not getting sound with my Blue Snowball mic.
Is there a changelog posted for each version, or a list of feature changes?
I’m waiting on the USB audio and on the pre-recorded video layer.
@fromtheabbey the audio layer is not working in this update, but you can create a camera layer without video source and your device as audio source.
The video playback is working ok
Trying to set up the microphone on the Main Camera source, when I enable the audio device in the source panel, then click the settings gear, nothing appears in the Input Source dropdown. The format dropdown works fine.
@fromtheabbey changelogs can always be found at http://www.boinx.com/mimolive/beta > http://take.ms/zvJiG
About the USb Mic issue: You need to disable and re-enable the layer holding the source with the USb mic once, then it works. we’ll look into that.
I created a new document and fiddled with it for a long time. I finally got the mic working through the camera source. The placer layer with the camera set as the source gave me video and sound.
I tried the camera switcher layer and the sound went away. Disabling/enabling didn’t help.
Likewise with the audio only layer with the microphone set up as an audio source.
The only configuration working right now is the first with the single placeholder.
The Camera switcher doesn’t carry audio. Simply create a source with no video camera, and just audio and just assign it to its own placer layer.
Should the audio only layer have worked using an audio source?
Just wanted to share that our elementary students (3rd-5th grade) are using mimoLive to broadcast their morning news show.

I set up the livestream info, inputs and sources, they choose layers, backgrounds, show them how to run a keynote with over the shoulder, etc. Our “producer” runs everything during the show, I don’t touch a thing. It’s broadcast live on our CCTV and YouTube, then automatically archived on YouTube.
We do have occasional crashes when changing, deleting, adding sources/layers. But it’s mostly been great. Kids are having fun and the school love seeing a “real news show”.
Just downloaded mimoLive and made our 1st video: https://youtu.be/xuTGMiiB7Po
is there another way to record iOS device screens other than the Quicktime and UltraStudio Mini Recorder?
Sometimes the audio doesn’t come through with the video and adjusting the gain seems to enable it sometimes.
