Wow – I started typing the topic and it popped up as a feature request way back in August 2011!!
Yeah, it would really be helpful if when the shift key is held down before dragging a layer that the layer be constrained in movement either horizontally or vertically, depending on the initial direction of motion of the mouse (and overriding any grid settings that have already been established).
I don’t think this was ever addressed. Thanks
