How to create a Fotomagic slideshow for Karaoke

Please help. I need to create a Karaoke song on Fotomagic (since I love this app a lot). I will have (1) static photo (or backdrop) for the entire song. I need to be able to insert a lyric for each music section/slide ( based on one audio track length for the lyric). How do I

keep the background image from having transitions that make it blurry…to sharp for each slide. (Just need it sharp/focus for about a 4 mn song). Yet each lyric phrase should fade in and out according to the time it needs. Thank you all. Peter

If I’m understanding you correctly, you want the background image to NOT fade or get blurry from slide to slide, but you want the lyrics to fade from one lyric to the next?

First, drag the image into your slide and in the Options panel disable Animation, set the Transition type to “Cut”. You could NOW copy that slide and paste it over and over again in the timeline for as many lyric changes you want for that song. Now in the first slide add the text you want and style it how you want. Then with the text block selected, again in the Options panel under Text, click on the little arrow next to Opacity so that it displays the status of the Opacity for the entire length of the slide (or in this case, I guess, the lyric you want displayed). Adjust the “curve” so that it ramps up and/or down during its length. By holding down the Command key and clicking on the curve you can add points to the line as appropriate, and move them up and down. Have the curve ramp UP from the start so that the lyric appears at 100% opacity, then straight across, and then ramp down at the end to disappear. You’d do the same for the next slide (next lyric). By adjusting the in and out timing, the lyrics will fade in, stay visible, and then fade out – while the background remains the same.

Hope that helps

In addition to @stantastic description, something to consider before adding the texts: Ensure your song is placed in the timeline below the slides. Right-click on the music track to open the Audio Marker Assistant for this song in the appearing context menu. Here you should add audio markers wherever you want the text to advance by playing back the audio and hitting the “+” button at the right time. Once you’ve added your markers, close the assistant.

Next, select all the slides simultaneously by pressing Command-A, and change the “Continue” option of all slides in the Options sidebar to “At Audio Marker.” This ensures your text transitions perfectly in sync with your music.

By the way, in the Advanced section of the FotoMagico slideshow settings, you can set up a background image that remains visible throughout the playback. This setup means you only need the text layers on your slides, eliminating the need for a static layer with your background image under the text in each slide.

Thanks, Achim – yeah, that’s exactly what I meant to say
