I’ve recently started using mimoLive for live streaming, and I’m trying to optimize my setup for a multi-camera production. I’m currently working with three cameras (two DSLRs and one webcam), but I’m running into some issues with latency, sync, and overall performance.
Here are a few challenges I’m facing:
Latency Between Cameras – My DSLR feeds have a slight delay compared to the webcam. What’s the best way to keep them in sync? Would an external capture card help?
Optimal System Requirements – I’m using a MacBook Pro (M1, 16GB RAM), but I occasionally experience dropped frames when switching between cameras. Would upgrading my RAM or switching to an external GPU make a difference?
Best Capture Cards for mimoLive – Right now, I’m using an Elgato Cam Link for one DSLR and a generic USB HDMI capture card for the second. Are there better alternatives that work well with mimoLive?
Audio Sync Issues – I’m using an external USB microphone, but there’s a slight delay compared to the video. Is there a way to manually adjust audio sync in mimoLive?
I’d love to hear from experienced users about their recommended workflows, hardware choices, and software settings for smooth multi-camera live streaming. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

If you’re using different methods of capturing video (in your case: Cam Link, nobrand USB device, USB Webcam) it will always be very difficult to get the cameras in sync. You can try to use the “Video Delay” filter, but it is very resource intensive and I don’t think the cameras always have the same delay relative to each other.
In your case, a third DSLR (preferably the same make and model of the other two) and a PCIe box with a Blackmagic Decklink card would make it much easier. See: Multiple HMDI and/or SDI Inputs | mimoLive®

The issue you are experiencing is most likely, that the capture devices need to “spin up” when you turn a layer live. Are you using the “Video Switcher” layer to switch? An easy fix is to use the multiview to show the camera feeds at all times to keep them “alive”: Multiview | mimoLive®

Yes, you can adjust the audio delay for each source:

There is not “the one” recommended workflow. It all depends on budget and priorities. For example: Is it a fixed installation at a studio or a mobile system that travels to locations? Does it need to be operated by a single person or is there a team with camera operators, sound technician, director and producers? Do you produce mainly for social media or are you feeding into a broadcast system? Is it a Yoga tutorial or a talk show?
