Bag of wishes (more inptus, multiview, etc)

Hello and happy new year!
First of all I would like to thank the mimoLive team in solving the issue and keeping me posted on updates regarding Dante and Thunderbolt soundcard problems!

So my wishes for future would be to have more video inputs! For example 12 inputs (I use NDI) For multiview this could be placed like one big Program out on top and two rows of six inputs.

For fun I made couple of mock-ups:

Now, even when mimoLive supports 9 inputs, I rarely use this on the multiview, because having one BIG input on top left is bit distracting. (As I’ve used to having “Preview” view on the left of Program on other equipment) So for the other stuff I need I use them with layers, which is bit inconvient…

One hope would be also to have same status boxes to the multivew, like stream status, recording status, system information etc. These could be extra boxes to add, like:

There was a previous feature request in the similr lines: Streaming Indicator Output

Some bonus wishes would be:
SRT streaming.
A dedicated option to turn on crossfade when making the next shot live, for example “hold button while making a cut and it is crossfade and when you release the button it reverts back to cutting normally” or a an on/off toggle.

Also mimoComposer is interesting, I haven’t used it, only read about it and QuartzComposer. So this is not a “wish” but more of an inquiry: Would it be possible in the future to use mimoComposer to trigger events (lower thirds, graphics etc) via timecode coming from either Dante or Thunderbolt soundcard? Like Resolume.

And lastly there is one thing that has had bothered me, but I’m not sure if mimoLive can do anything about it. The case: I use Stream Deck and Companion, it works well, but if you have to make a change, for example bring new graphics to the layer stack, the buttons get messed up and you have to re-map them again…

Thank you!

Hi @MulticamDude I’m happy to hear that you like mimoLive and thank you for all the feedback and for taking the time to create the mockups. And Happy New Year to you, too!

While the layout doesn’t match what you would like to have, the multiview actually has up to 16 inputs:

mimoLive itself does not have any limits on the number of video inputs you can use. Using a second document, you could create your own layout for a multiview as you can access all the same sources from multiple mimoLive documents.

The system/stream status boxes are already on our list. We think this is an excellent idea.

SRT streaming.

Also on our list, although not soon.

A dedicated option to turn on crossfade when making the next shot live, for example “hold button while making a cut and it is crossfade and when you release the button it reverts back to cutting normally” or a an on/off toggle.

We’re thinking about making transitions between Layer Sets possible in the future.

Triggering events can currently be done with the HTTP API. You could use ChatGPT to create an app that triggers HTTP requests when certain time codes are received.

A more convenient way to do this is on the drawing board.

And lastly there is one thing that has had bothered me, but I’m not sure if mimoLive can do anything about it. The case: I use Stream Deck and Companion, it works well, but if you have to make a change, for example bring new graphics to the layer stack, the buttons get messed up and you have to re-map them again…

Have you looked into mimoLive Remote Control Surface? It is much more powerful than both Stream Deck and Companion as it maintains a logical connection to the document. The only thing it doesn’t do is physical buttons but we support matching a Remote Control Surface to an Xkeys board.

We wish we could programmatically change the button assignments on the Stream Deck from mimoLive and an engineer from Elgato in a LinkedIn conversation hinted that this functionality might be provided in the future but no details are known.

In addition to my brother’s notes regarding “A dedicated option to turn on crossfade when making the next shot live”:

The Video Switcher layer can perform crossfades by long-pressing the mouse button on a source in the layer’s preview. However, this feature is unfortunately not available when using the switching capabilities from the Multiview.

Hi!
Thank you so much for the replies, I completely have missed that the multiview now supports more inputs! This is huge for me. Haha, should read the release notes more carefully.

Also good to know that the future might bring even more from my wishlist  Also I haven’t tested out the Remote Control Surface, since I need to have the tactile feel of a button. (Most times I need to operate the controller without looking at it)

I need to check out Xkeys how it functions.
