In rendered slideshows, the audio and video of a movie clip are not in sync (video lags the audio). The movies were created with an iPod Touch (720p). Playing the slideshow (photos, movies and background music) within FotoMagico looks fine. Sharing the slideshow to the AppleTV with people talking in movie clips, results in the spoken word audio and lip motion being out of sync. I created a short movie with an iPod Touch to demonstrate the problem. The file is located at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7829364/AvOrg.MOV. Added this clip to FotoMagico and shared it to the AppleTV at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7829364/AvFoto.m4v. The audio/video lag in the FotoMagico generated file can be viewed with iMovie. The version of FotoMagico is 3.81 (Rev. 15430-F13634-R) running on 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 10.6.8.
Is there an option that should be selected? If this is a bug, is there a temporary work around till the issue gets resolved?
Thanks for the development and support of a great product,
Ed
Thanks for responding and looking into this matter.
A part of the problem is that I didn’t explain myself very clearly. I spent some more time in documenting the problem. iMovie was used to show that FotoMagico is introducing a lag between the audio and video.
The original movie clip file, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7829364/AvOrg.MOV , was imported into an iMovie project. The cursor was moved until the audio was heard which coincided with the audio waveform and the pen contacting the paper in the video frame. The audio and video are in sync. No problem. The audio and video are not in sync. This is a problem. If the iMovie time stamps are accurate, there appears to be a 50mSec delay between the audio and video. I wouldn’t think this small delay would be a problem but it’s obvious when watching someone talk. It’s very distracting. This problem appears when played in iTunes, QuickTime, iPod Touch, iPad and iMovie. I created a short video, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7829364/AVekOrg.mov , with an iPod Touch. Put that video into FotoMagico and shared it to the AppleTV. That file could be found at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7829364/AVekFoto.m4v .
You are right, watching it frame by frame reveals the delay. This is definitely a bug, and I handed it on to Engineering. I was not able to find a workaround that solves the issue, sorry.
