Where are the pictures stored?

When I create an FM5 show, the .fms file gets bigger and bigger.

  • It seems that all pictures are in this file.
  • If I use the Finder to move the raw images to another folder, the presentation is still executable.
  • If I then look at the parameters of a picture, I find this in a unknown directory tree with hyroglyhic names. Is the fms file extracted for this? Are the extracted images only temporary?
  • If I want to create an mp4 file, then the original images have to be in the same location again. That Finally, the pictures of a show are then available twice. Once in the original folder and once in the fms file.

Am I correct?

Actually a .fms file is just a folder that is shown as a “single” file by Finder. You can look inside by right clicking on the .fms file with the mouse. You will get a context menu where you choose “Show Package Contents”. Please let things as they are in here otherwise FotoMagico will get confused. If you export your slideshow into a movie you shouldn’t need the original files in its place because FotoMagico is using the stored files inside the .fms file.

Do you have troubles exporting a movie if the original images aren’t at their places?

Hallo Achim

Hello Achim

Thanks for the answer.

I’ve had trouble getting the movie rendered, the music was there, but the pictures were all black. After I added the picture folder again, everything was ok. However, I could not adjust this with my existing shows anymore.

Additional question: Is there any guidance on when to render which video profile to use?
