I saw where the latest beta has a syphon sender which is cool. Does this replace having to use apps like CamTwist to send video/audio? I tried it using Chrome and blab.im but did not see a virtual device listed in the web browser.

no, in this case you would still need camtwist. We don’t have a virtual camera yet.
The built in syphon sender just eliminates the need to install the extra package.
