I want to buy a Sony hdr-cx220. Is it compatible with iStopMotion 2.8.4 and OS X 10.6.8?
We didn’t test this camera, so I can only guess some things: Even the camera has an USB-port you can’t use it to view the live video output, because this port is only build for downloading the recorded video. You must have a 3rd party hardware to either capture the composited SD output or the HDMI HD output (recommended). Have a look at http://www.boinx.com/boinxtv/equipment/ in the Video Input section, you may find a proper hardware. however I am not sure if all the listed devices are 10.6.8 compatible.
On iStopMotion 2.x side you will have to need an iStopMotion Pro licenses in order to capture in HD quality (iStopMotion Home and iStopMotion Express are restricted to a certain pixel resolution).
