scrubber tool doesn't stay set

I’ve tried to use the sliding scrubber bar below the storyboard, but it doesn’t stay fixed. I click the Visual or Audio track icon and the bar appears briefly and then disappears. This is pretty much a nuisance as I can not scrub quickly thru my slides. (El Capitan on an iMac)

Hi Bruce, I don’t understand what you mean. Can you please clarify?

I’m referring to the horizontal bar that appears (occasionally)below the slide thumbnails that allows you to quickly scrub back and forth thru without having to move the playhead.
