No way to save project but as QT file?

Hi. I’m new to iStopMotion as of a week ago. I am trying to figure out how to save a work-in-progress, but the only option I see is to save it as a Quicktime file. Is this really true? That would seem terribly primitive for an app that so many people use, including even professionals. This means that, essentially, I can’t save the project with all the individual frames in the timeline, yes? So what do you do when you’re working on a large project over several days. Even if you keep the app open, there’s a chance it will crash, and then…you just lose all of your work? Is there something I’m missing? Thanks for any help!
