MacBookPro 15-inch with Retina

I read in your “example_configurations” with MacBookPro 15-inch with Retina :

2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz
8GB 1600MHz memory
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

I use a :
2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7
16 Go 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 Mo

  1. my setup should be sufficient with 2 firewire cams ? What is the possible problem ?

  2. Is there a maximum duration for recording with setup ?

  1. Your machine configuration should be ok. The problem with two fire wire cameras is that they interfere with each other when connected to the same fire wire bus. Even if you happen to have two ports on your computer it is most common that they are on the same bus. Unfortunately the MacBooks-Pros-Retina don’t have any Firewire bus at all. You will need a 3rd party hardware to connect your firewire cams to your thunderbolt port.

  2. The recording is only limited by your disk space.

I use two thunderbolt to firewire adapters on the 2 ports thunderbolt with my MBP.
I just make a very short test with two cams (Sony DCR-HC62E + Canon xl1s) without problem.
I like your advice because I prepare from april many webTV news with students on an educational project.
