Layer Sets not retaining settings

I have been having difficulties having layer sets retain their settings. I will set them up, check and test them, but by the time I am streaming the show some of the layers will no longer be a part of the set. If I change the settings during the stream, they will remain intact.

It seems to be related to the particular layer. as an example, I have one Layer Set that makes live 3 PIP layers and another that ends the three PIP layers. Often one of the PIP layers will drop out of both Layer sets. I will reset both and they will work for a while then the same layer will be missing from both sets.

The source for all 3 PIP layers is a mimoCall if that makes any difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi @Ben1 . Thank you for using mimoLive and for your feedback.

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing what seems to be data loss.

This is how I understood your streaming process:

  1. You said “I will set them up, check and test them…” which I assume is your setup process which you are doing before you stream session?

  2. After you do these steps you save the document.

  3. Now you open your document for the next step (ex. some other day).

  4. “… , but by the time I am streaming the show some of the layers will no longer be a part of the set” - your opened document is missing layer set settings.

The layer settings should be saved and persisted after each document closing and read upon opening.

If the steps above describe your process then it is a data persistance problem. However, if this happens while the document is still open, then it is a completely different issue.

In order to faster repair the issue it would help me to know when this happens to you.

At first I thought this happened while the show was loaded in memory, after further testing It only happens after saving and reopening the show. I have sent two screen shots of layer settings. In each case the layer labeled “pip Royer” So it seemed to be specific to a layer since it was missing from 2 Layer Sets. I deleted the layer and recreated a new one and the problem did nor reoccur. So for now problem solved.

I have a bigger problem. On Wed, May 6th between 10 am and 12 pm Pacific Standard time. I was doing a live stream using 3 mimoCall participants and twice the stream failed. I had assumed local internet failure until I read your notice about problems with the mimoCall service.

I attempted to do the show again on Wed, May 13th at 10 am PST. I had the exact same problem. First I would get a stream problem warning, Then the mimoCalls would fail. I could not recover without rebooting the MacBook Pro. This happened 3 times during the show.

I have sent the specs for the MacBook Pro and my internet speeds, I usually have a faster upload speed more like 20 Mbps.

I am a little at a loss on how to proceed. I have been running MimoLive successfully with an older 2013 iMac running Mohave, I switched to the newer MacBook Pro because the iMac was using %75 CPU.

This type of failure has only happened with the newer Mac running Catalina.

Let me know if you have any ideas. There are so many possible points of failure, it’s hard to troubleshoot.

Thanks

Just checking in on this issue I have been having described above. It seems to be either a mimoCall issue or my local internet service. I am nervous about going live until I can figure it out.

Thanks
