HD capture with Macbook Pro

Hello; I’m a bit unclear as to what is required to capture an HD image on a Macbook Pro (Intel Core i7) using iStopmotion 2.x. We are currently utilizing Blackmagic Intensity cards on our MacPros; do we need a similar device for this to work with a Macbook? We use Canon Vixia HV30s as cameras.

Yes, you will need a 3rd party HDMI capture device. If the MacBook Pro you are using is having a ThunderBold port already you may use a BlackMagic UltraStudio Mini: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/ultrastudiothunderbolt/
Please check the system requirements for this device before you buy.

excellent- many thanks for advice!
