For doing two camera, live HD streaming with Boinx TV,
I am considering a:
MacPro 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor;
3GB (three 1GB) memory;
ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB GDDR5;
Does any one have any comments, recommendations,
additions, changes to this configuration?
If HD works smooth depends completely on your hardware configuration. To be honest, we don’t recommend HD at the moment because the graphics cards are not really fast enough. On a current MacPro with an ATI Radeon HD 5870 I managed to get two progressive HD streams in 720p running, but the machine is pretty busy with that alone. So right now we recommend PAL/NTSC Widescreen as a maximum.
It depends now how you capture the cameras and if you need to chroma key them. If you still want to try it, you want to get more than 4 GB of RAM. BoinxTV alone will chew up 4 GB alone and then you should have 2-4 GB for the system itself.
