Boinx instead of AE?

I was very impressed when I saw the Boinx demo.
Now I just wanted to ask, if it is possible to use Boinx for production like After Effects, i.e. is it possible to set up some kind of timeline or script layer so the lower thirds, image changes, background audio, off-voices etc will be triggered automatically?
I produce “live reports” with prerecorded video for elearning media on a regular basis, and therefore I need to be able to change maybe the lower third’s text, duration etc even after maybe a month or so.
I now do this in AE, but the process is much more complicated than it looks in Boinx, and the rendering time is quite long usually.

Thanks for a great anwer

Currently there is no build-in playout, timeline or scripts in BoinxTV 1.8.4. You can either use the keyboard-short cuts to trigger the layers by 3rd-party applications that are capable of sending keyboard strokes (e.g. AppleScript can do so) or modify the layers with Apple’s QuartzComposer editor that way they understand some kind of timing and do what you want.
