fx > Video Delay (expanded view) = Beach ball, i.e. crash

edited January 28 in mimoLive

Everytime I set a video delay from fx and switch the little arrow to expanded view the mimoLive crashes. (The feature is explained here https://docs.mimo.live/docs/video-delay)
Using Macbook Pro 2018 i9 32 GB, High Sierra 10.13.6, mimoLive 4.6 (26922)

  • are you either streaming live or recording to disk when this happens? I've found adding or changing things when you're live over than toggling layers on or off can produce crashes.

  • @Erik I'm sorry to hear that you experience a crash. Of course, we want to fix this asap. Can you please send us the crash log(s)? https://docs.mimo.live/docs/crash-reports

If you see a beach ball, this usually means that mimoLive hasn't crashed but is experiencing a locking state. In this case, it would be very helpful to get a process sample from when this happens. https://docs.mimo.live/docs/process-sampling

Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

  • @kmac1036 This is not as it should be. mimoLive shouldn't crash under any circumstance. Of course you can do things that overload your system and you should be carefull playing around with the document during a live stream, but we've done so many times without crashing.

  • @"Oliver (Boinx)" well, my case might be extremely rare... what happened was we were live to youtube, recording to local disk (Apple Pro res 422 LT), I went to toss in a Syphon Source, forgot to start the server (Black Syphon). ML had the beachball for a few minutes, but we were still live on youtube. Stream and ML abruptly quit when the machine ran out of RAM (16GB). I had opened Activity Monitor to see what was happening. My guess is I triggered a memory leak possibly. I wanted to test for it & see if I could reproduce the issue before I submitted a bug ticket with all the logging... last time this happened (last summer, think it was a known bug that got patched afterward), I lost the locally recorded file. That did not happen this time.

  • @Erik Unfortunately this hang is caused by a bug in macOS 10.13.6. Can you update to macOS 10.14 Mojave?

OK, good to know it's an Apple-bug. I am not ready to upgrade to Mojave yet. Do you know if it only crashes when flipping out the expanded view? I could keep the fx-Video Delay feature in the small window in that case, for the time being.
