Have you planned to support Nikon D5300 for live view?
Hi, we whitelist cameras as soon as we have access to them. If you want, you can disable whitelisting and try D5300 compatibility on your own if you want.
Do do this please open iStopMotion, press and hold the option key, then click the "iStopMotion" menu in the menubar (top left). Now choose "Debug Preferences". In the "Debug Tab" check "Disable Whitelisting for Cameras". Now quit and reopen iStopMotion. You will see your Nikon Camera in the list and can now try if live view works with it.

Steps to run live view in Nikon D5300:
Rotate the live view switch. The view through the lens will be displayed in the monitor.
Position the focus point over your subject.
Press the shutter-release button halfway to focus.
Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down to shoot.
To exit, rotate the live view switch.
